What is kite safari?
FAQ arrow

A Discovery Kite safari is a seven-night kitesurfing adventure aboard luxury yacht in the Red Sea, Egypt. Instead of staying in one hotel and riding the same beach each day, you live aboard a yacht and travel between remote islands and lagoons. Each day, the captain and kite guides select the most suitable available location based on the wind, weather and sea conditions. This gives you access to beautiful spots that are difficult or impossible to reach from land. Between sessions, you return to the yacht for fresh gourmet meals, time to relax on deck and evenings shared with an international group of guests.

What’s included in the travel package?
FAQ arrow

The safari takes place in the Red Sea, Egypt. Depending on the conditions, the route may include locations such as: Tawila Island, Geisum Islands, Ashrafi Islands, Abu Mongar, Joubal, and other suitable lagoons and island spots selected by the team. The route is intentionally flexible. The goal is not to follow a fixed itinerary, but to reach the best available kite conditions during your week.

Are kite lessons included in the safari price?
FAQ arrow

Kite lessons are not included in the standard safari package. Kite courses, private lessons and additional supervision can be arranged separately. Guests can discuss their needs before arrival or confirm additional sessions onboard depending on availability and conditions. This allows you to pay only for the support you actually need.

Is rescue support available?
FAQ arrow

Yes. Zodiac boats are used for transfers to kite spots and to support sessions on the water. Guests must always follow the instructions given during the daily briefing. Safety decisions are made by the guides and captain based on the wind, sea and weather conditions.

What kite sizes should I bring?
FAQ arrow

You are welcome to bring your own equipment or rent everything you need, including kites, boards, harnesses and wetsuits. We recommend bringing at least two kite sizes and, if possible, a third size, as the wind conditions may change throughout the week, and at least one kiteboard. We recommend a twin-tip, but a surfboard or hydrofoil can also be a great choice. A wetsuit suitable for the season: a shorty during summer and a 5/4 mm full wetsuit during winter, especially for early sunrise sessions.

Can I join alone?
FAQ arrow

Yes. Many guests join the safari as solo travellers. Solo guests can book a place in a shared cabin. Cabin arrangements are organized thoughtfully, typically matching men with men and women with women unless another arrangement has been agreed. A private cabin upgrade may also be available.

Are there rules onboard?
FAQ arrow

Yes. Guests will receive a short onboard briefing after arrival. The rules are designed to keep the experience safe, comfortable and respectful for everyone. Please follow the instructions of the captain, crew and guides at all times. Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor areas.

How long is the kite safari?
FAQ arrow

Each safari lasts seven nights, typically from Saturday to Saturday. Guests usually arrive in Hurghada on the first day and board the yacht in the afternoon or evening. The yacht returns to the marina at the end of the week on Friday, with check-out arranged after breakfast on Saturday. Your exact boarding instructions will be sent before the trip.

Does the yacht follow the same route every week?
FAQ arrow

No. The final itinerary depends on the wind, sea and weather conditions. The captain and kite guides make daily decisions based on safety and the best possible riding experience. This flexibility is one of the main advantages of a kite safari: instead of waiting for the wind in one location, the yacht can move to a more suitable spot.

Is the experience only about kitesurfing?
FAQ arrow

Kitesurfing is the heart of the safari, but the week is also about slowing down and enjoying life on the water. Between sessions, guests can relax on deck, snorkel, dive, enjoy meals together, watch the sunset, as well wakeboard, and experience the Red Sea away from busy resorts. It is an active holiday, but it is also a chance to disconnect from everyday life.

Are the instructors certified?
FAQ arrow

Our kite team includes qualified and experienced IKO & CDWS instructors. When booking lessons or supervision, our team will confirm the appropriate instructor support for your level and selected safari week.

What happens if there is no wind?
FAQ arrow

Wind conditions cannot be guaranteed, but the yacht gives us more flexibility than a land-based holiday because we can move between different locations. If the wind is lighter or unsuitable for kitesurfing, we move to the next windy location. Guests can also relax onboard, swim, enjoy the islands or spend time together on the yacht. The team will always look for the best available option to allow our guests kite as much as they can.

Can I rent kite equipment?
FAQ arrow

Yes. Equipment rental can be arranged separately depending on availability. Please tell us your experience level, approximate weight and any equipment preferences before your trip. This helps us prepare the most suitable setup. Rental can be discussed before arrival and, where available, confirmed onboard.

Is Wi-Fi available onboard?
FAQ arrow

Wi-Fi availability may depend on the route and mobile signal. The yacht offers Wi-Fi  access, but the connection can be limited when travelling between remote islands. We recommend purchasing a local SIM card or eSIM if reliable personal internet access is important to you. The safari is also a good opportunity to disconnect for a few days.
